Riding is great yesterday and by the way the forecast looks it is only going to be getting better!
Going out for an afternoon ride. I’ll let you know what I see.
Went out riding last night and all I can say is I’m going out tonight again. Yes two nights in a row……….so what does that say to you? Forecast is looking good for the weekend. So don’t miss out on these conditions. There is oval tracks races this weekend in Boonville also. http://www.boonvillesnowfestival.com/
The storm has come to Old Forge and we have 4 to 6″ on the ground from it already. The snow that we are getting is the good packing snow that is going to build to the base on the roads and trails. I’m headed out later on for a ride and I can tell you already that I’m going to have a great time from what I have heard from people this week that have been out riding.
The storm is coming, it’s just a matter of the path it takes on how gets what. Could be up to 16″ for our area…..time will tell!
Check out this site www.polarisrush.com for the next thing in sleds!
A storm developing over the southwest United States is expected to
track northeast toward the region Tuesday night. Snow associated
with this system is forecast to spread from southwest to northeast
overnight and may become heavy at times Wednesday morning.
Snowfall amounts by Wednesday night could range between 6 and 12
inches… with the higher totals across the higher terrain.
We dropped to -16 last night and it looks like the next three nights we will be below zero. With snow predicted 4 of the next 5 days. The conditions just keep getting better, so if you can get away for a ride I’d do it. Hope you had a good weekend!
Warm up yesterday was good for the base as we are back down to 3 at 2:30 in the afternoon. Looks like light snow over the next few days and cold temps.
At 1PM it’s 30 degrees and it feels like a heat wave! But it isn’t going to last long as we are forecasted to be back down to 5 tonight and below zero temps at night the rest of the weekend. So I’m going to enjoy Tropical Friday while it lasts! This short warm up is good for the trails, as it has been cold for a long time and the snow that we have been getting has been dry. So this will give the snow some moisture content and make it into good packing snow and base.
Take note of the speedometer on Wes’s sled in the video. They are cruising along at a nice clip and enjoying the smooooooth trails.
Here’s todays video……………….
Jill had asked the other day about a accident on Trail 1 at the end of North Street. Someone else put up a post that they heard he was air lifted and then passed away. I did some checking on this accident and the info I have found out is that he DIDN’T pass away and was taken to a Utica hospital. There was an accident on trail 5 a few weeks ago and that person did pass away. That is the only person I have heard of that died from an accident on the Old Forge trails this season.
Someone else asked about the trail going to Brantingham and yes the loggers are out of there and the groomers are grooming it.
