Sorry this is so late. Ran out of hours today. We did get 6 to 12 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday (Sat). But not everyone got the same amount. It was also very hard to tell how much we did get as it was melting as fast as we got it unless it was landing on frozen hard pack. Cars, roads and things like that it didn’t build up much at all or melted as fast as it came down as temps held right at or just above freezing. It’s that time of the year when the roads break up fast and we have been very lucky for the little amout of snow we did have this winter that the roads held up as well as they did. It just goes to show how much the temp has an effect on the trail and road conditions. Just like now we have all this new snow on the trails but it is to wet to groom it and it just balls up in front of the drag. So pray for some cold temps that the groomers can get back out there. Here’s todays video…..
Just got back in from a ride……seen it better and have seen it worse. There is lots of snow out there as we have had a band of snow over us this afternoon and some areas have gotten a foot of new snow. Now we just need the temps to drop so we can get all this new snow frozen down and turned into base. With all of this new wet snow the trails are soft. Here’s todays video……………..
Well the storm didn’t turn out to be as big as they thought it was going to be for us. But it’s not off of the coast yet so maybe we will get something more from it yet. Traffic has been light today. I think the thought of having to travel in the storm kept some people at home this weekend. One group did come up last night and they said it was the longest trip they ever had to Old Forge. Here’s todays video………..
At 5pm we have gotten about 3 inches of new snow today and it is snowing at a good rate. It has been very heavy wet snow and it sounds like the worst is yet to come with wind later on. Not much else for now.
Ok I can’t believe I didn’t get one email or phone call on yesterdays report. It was Tuesday the 23rd not the 13th. I didn’t even notice it till the file was done processing and I wasn’t going to start all over on something like that.
Not sure what else to tell you besides it is the last weekend in February and the end will be coming soon. So if you had it in your mind to get another ride in this season you better do it soon. Here’s todays video………..
For those of you that want to get more riding in this season this week looks like it’s going to be a good one. Right now it’s not all that nice with the temp just touching 40. But it looks like tonight we will be returning to winter and all depending on the storm a good amount of snow. I’ll keep you posted and the storm.
On another note for those of you that live in NY or ride here. I’m sure you have heard about the Governor wanting to take snowmobile funds and use them for other things besides snowmobiling. Here is the number for the Governors office 518 474 8390. Call and let them know how you feel about this. Because it’s your money that you paid for snowmobile trails not some other project the state has planned. If you don’t speak up he will get away with it.
I forgot to tell you in the report that we did get about 3″ of snow last night that was more link snow pellets than snow flakes. It was very heavy and good packing snow that will mix in well with the trails and help pack them down. Here’s todays video……………..
